Warfare

Satan fights dirty,he doesn't fight fair, Seeking to devour and cause despair. But my God is Awesome and Mighty indeed, Bringing redemption and victory!

Sometimes life gets messy and doesn't go as we plan. A flat tire, a child's tantrum, or a bad report at work happens. These times are when Satan attacks us the most. Hopelessness, anger, and despair slowly creep in. It is at this time God gives us a choice, do we stand faithfully in Him or let the roar break us down.
The only way to stand solid in these times is to stand on God's Word. The precepts of the Lord are right giving joy to the heart. The commandants of the Lord are radiant giving light to the eyes.(Psalms 19:8) In your time of trouble where do you first go to for help? Choosing to kneel to God first,  will silence the roar of Satan.  Your problems may or may not go away but in the midst of it God will always stay. The blessing in the trial is you will come to Know
Him in a different way. I have had some struggles the last few weeks that have been very hard and felt very hopeless. Then I realized I have spiritual weapons to use to battle this trial. God gave us prayer, His Word, and fellow believers to help us through the battle. We often think of the Bible as a book to read and guide us.But, we must remember it is a powerful weapon ,God gave us, that will help us through these trials. As a Woman of the Word silence the roar with the word, and remember in the end God wins.

Under The Boardwalk Mini-Challenge

So the challenge is to post a picture of who is around when you are reading. Mine would be my dog Spunky who is always at my feet and any one of my four girls.

Hour 4 Dewey Read a-thon

So many books so little time. Okay so I read last night for an hour between 3-4 am. So I got started again at 8 with the read-athon. Am moving slowly in the book Intervention and beginning to wonder if I am going to only get through the one book. Spent one hour trying to figure out how to do some of the mini-challenges.

Hi Everyone! Thought I might let you know about thie 24 hour read-a-thon that starts on Saturday 24th. Looks fun for anyone that has the time. You don't have to do the whole 24 hours some do and some don't. They offer book prizes every hour for whoever tries it. It is an interesting site to look at anyway. It is not a specifically Christian based site but has a lot of different reading sites to visit from. They do a 24 read-a-thon in Fall and one in Spring. Wonder if I should let Charlie know I'm doing this. Wonder if he'll notice that a book is in front of me all next Saturday. Now to think of the books I want to read.

Fall Reading

Hello everyone! I know it has been a long time since I have posted. I am missing book club. Since Labor Day weekend is coming up I thought I would recommend some Fall reading.
Those who enjoyed the book Splitting Harriet by Tamara Leigh might enjoy her new book Leaving Carolina that comes out on Sept. 15. Another author that I have found that is similar to her writing is Susan May Warren and her books Chill Out Josey, and Coming Up Josey.
Those that enjoy the English historical romance may enjoy Before the Season Ends and The House In Grosvenor Square. The author Linore Burkard is becoming well known for her Regency Inspirational Romance. This genre is not my typical reading but I enjoyed the first book so much it has opened me up to reading more in this genre.
Local author Kaye Dacus has her first book out in a similar series Ransomes Honor. Kaye also has modern day christian romance she has written, Stand In Groom and A Menu for Romance. In January our group read was By Reason of Insanity by author Randy Singer. This summer he had a book The Justice Game that came out. The unique thing about this book is he had voters vote on the direction the ending would go before he finished it.
Those of you who have girls in the pre-teen age may enjoy reading The Mother-Daughter Book Club series by Heather Vogel Frederick. I highly recommend them for great discussion starters with your girls. Also, don't forget Nancy Rue has 100 christian girl novels she has written specifcially for this age. She also has a website your daughter can visit Faithgirlz.

There is a great website I use that has all kind of online book groups some of you avid readers may be interested in. It allows you to form your own visual bookshelf of all the books you have read also. The site is http://www.shelfaribooks.com/
I'm missing book club so much I may be tempted to start it back up.
